Adults Class Descriptions
Aerial Silks
Intro/L1 Aerial Silks & Aerial Hammock
Suitable for first timers - no experience or fitness requirements, we are here to help you get started and learn the foundations for your Aerial apparatus.
Intro Classes will work with the 2 separated Silks tied into knots at various heights to get you up in the air whether it is performing standing shapes, being supported upside down or finding your balance seated or on front hips.
It usually takes a minimum of 5 Intro Classes to gain a solid understanding of the foundation skills of Aerial Silks, both in names, being able to learn and then master the basics. We encourage people to progress at their own pace, you can stay in Intro level as long as you need.
In Level 1 As your strength and confidence increases with our small classes and individual guidance from your instructor, you will progress to climbing, creating footlocks and wrapping knots to support your body in the air.
We build techniques by repeating skills throughout the term so that not only can you remember how to do the skill, what it is called, but also so that your muscle memory builds to make the skills easy and efficient for you, allowing space for newer & more challenging skills.
Key skills we work on in this level are:
-French and Russian climbs
-Footlock skills and standing shapes
-Baby Hiplock
-Inversions and rolls in the knot
Level 2 Aerial Silks
In Level 2 we start to get some height! Working on taking L1 skills and doing them from a climb and without a knot. This will build the strength, knowledge, and stamina to start drops in the air.
We continue to build a repertoire of footlock shapes and sequences sequences.
Some of the goals are:
-Crochet Climbs
-Hiplocks from a russian climb
-Straddle inversions from a climb
-Working towards a T-Flip (360drop) with wrapped legs
-Knee hook to hip lock
-Footlock splits
-Same side straddles
Level 3 Aerial Silks (Intermediate)
In Level 3 we will build your repertoire and technique in drops. Aiming to have foundations and control in all single drops including dropping in all directions including forward, backwards, and sideways. We also learn different hand, arm and leg wraps giving you pathways to more complex sequences and shapes.
Skills we will be working on:
-Star drops
-Hip lock drops
-Belays
-Backwards cleopatra
-Saltos
-various grips and hand wraps
-Scorpians
-Egg beaters
There are so many drops to learn, don't expect to complete them all in 10 weeks. Hang out in this level for at least 2-3 terms to make sure you get through everything!
Level 4 Aerial Silks (Advanced)
In Level 4 it’s all about getting you into and out of skills with multiple variations on transitions, stacked drops, entries and exits. Let’s have some fun whilst your Aerial knowledge builds.
-Stacked Star drops (double, star-salto, salto-star, back dive star)
-Double T-flips
-Slack drops
-Single arm holds
-Single foot hangs
-Straight arm inversions
+ SO MANY MORE!
Expect to hang out in Level 4 for quite a few terms - there is simply so many drops to learn, techniques to build, and strengths to gain.
Level 5 Silks (Advanced)
This level is invitation only - think you are ready for it? Ask our teachers if you are.
This level is for the long-termers who are here for the challenge...the aerialists who know their way around the silks and have the stamina to stay in the air for complex sequences, detailed wraps, and mental and physical puzzles.
We'll get dynamic on the silks, using your body to create energy and find new pathways into olf friendly wraps.
We'll find the edges of your aerial knowledge, and then challenge them.
We can't list the tricks you'll cover, because they aren't that simple :)

Intro Classes will work with the Aerial Hoop down low to get you up in the air , help you find your balance in sitting shapes and confidence moving both in and under the hoop.
